International travel restrictions in Bangladesh

International travel restrictions are changing in short notice.

At the moment land border crossings and ports are open. Bangladesh has most of its land border crossings with India. Passenger travel from India is restricted. Only Bangladeshi citizens who are still in India can enter the country via the Benapole, Akhaura and Burimari land border crossings. Nevertheless they have to take permission from the Bangladeshi High Commission before entering.

Bangladesh government divided countries into three groups for international travel restrictions. The groups are A, B, and C. The groups are formed based on levels of COVID-19 activity in those countries. For countries in group A, all inbound and outbound travels are suspended. For countries in group B, all inbound and outbound travel are suspended except for Bangladeshis returning with special permission. For group C, all inbound travel is allowed and outbound travel from Bangladesh to those countries is allowed. People arriving from these countries however must undergo a 14-day self-quarantine.

In group 1, there are Argentina, Bahrain, Bolivia, Brazil, India, Malaysia, Maldives, Nepal, Paraguay, Trinidad and Tobago, and Uruguay. in group B, there are Belgium, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, Greece, Kuwait, and Oman. In group C, there are all other countries.

All passengers entering Bangladesh must have a negative COVID-19 PCR test result. Passengers below the age of 10 do not need this. The COVID-19 PCR test has to be conducted within 72 hours prior to departure.

The government suspended visa-on-arrival services. International travellers must obtain a visa from Bangladeshi diplomatic mission before flying to Bangladesh. Holders of diplomatic and official passports are exempt from this.
