Beximco Group will setup a plant in Detroit, plans to invest USD20 million

Beximco Group, Bangladesh's top maker and exporter of clothing goods and medicine, announced it will set up a plant in the United States to produce N95 masks. The company plans to invest about USD 20 million to set up the plant in Detroit. It already formed a joint venture with a Chicago-based company to pursue the project. The company is committed to build a world class manufacturing facility in Detroit.

The State of Michigan welcomed the project and expressed all out support. The demands of N95 masks are increasing in the United States due to the Covid-19.The CEO of Beximco Group's textile division Syed Naved Husain expects to become a top personal protective equipment supplier in the next five years. Syed Naved Husain mentioned that capital will be raised through international financing and suppliers’ credit.

Beximco already started supplying world standard personal protective equipments (PPE) to hospitals in Bangladesh. The PPEs are made in World Health Organization accordance and were approved by the Directorate General of Drug Administration. The company also exported 6.5 million personal protective equipment gowns to Hanes in May.
