Salman F Rahman hopeful to improve in the ease of doing business index

Salman F Rahman, Bangladesh´s one of the most successful businessman and Private Industry and Investment Adviser to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is hopeful that the country will attain double digit in ease of doing business index in 2021. He is hopeful because the current administration under leadership of dynamic Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken necessary steps over the last couples of years. Salman F Rahman himself was part of the policy making. This effectual personality attended a virtual meeting recently that was conducted by Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), where he expressed his hopes. The event was organized for launching of three new services on the Online One Stop Service Portal. The services were:

  1. Verification of National Identity Card,
  2. Security Clearance of Security Services Department
  3. Land Use Clearance of Chittagong Development Authority

He pointed out that the Awami League government already created a favourable environment for the private sector. He requested all to work collectively with an aim to increase investments. As Bangladesh is looking forward of getting status of ´developed country´ by 2041, more investments from both local and international arenas are required. That is why improvement in the ´ease of doing business index´ is quite vital. In his speech, Salman F Rahman, said senior government officials rightly realise the importance of the ease of doing business index for investment but field level officials are yet to fell the importance. He also highlighted Bangladesh's tax-to-GDP ratio. This is still low mainly due to weak tax structure. He thinks the tax net needs to be expanded and tax structure needs to be changed.

Salman F Rahman is not only a successful business personality and advisor to the prime minister. He is a parliamentarian and a visionary business leader. He was part of many prestigious business associations. His effective policy-making was the backbone of success that Bangladesh´s private sector achieved.
