Navana Group was founded by Mr. Shafiul Islam Kamal after Mr Jahurul Islam, the chairman of Islam Group died. Mr. Shafiul Islam Kamal became the new chairman of Islam group and he formed a separate company and named it Navana Group. His prominent managerial skill added with the guideline left by the great Mr. Jahurul Islam has made it one of the leaders of the business world of Bangladesh. They are the leading automobile company and the leading real estate company in Bangladesh now.

Initially, Navana Limited, a part of Islam Group back then, was formed in 1964 by Mr. Jahurul Islam. They became the sole distributors of Toyota cars in East Pakistan. Mr. Jahurul Islam and Mr. Shafiul Islam Kamal did a splendid job with this business. They made such a good strategy that just within 5 years people of Bangladesh started replacing their Volkwagen, Opel, Hillman, Morris cars with the new Toyota Corona. Their brilliant business plan made Bangladesh the most Toyota selling country. In 1981, Aftab Automobiles Limited was formed which became the exclusive distributors of HINO motors and Toyota vehicles in Bangladesh.

After the formation of Navana Group, the real estate and construction section of Islam group was named Navana Real Estate Limited and Navana Construction. Both these companies are now two of the topmost companies in their respective sectors. In 1996, Navana established a new trading unit named Biponon Limited. This new company commenced their business in health and medical equipment. They are now the most revenue generating company in this sector.

Navana Interlinks Limited was formed in 1988 and they commence their business in Heavy & Lights Industry Sector, Civil Aviation, Food Sector, Telecommunication, Chemical & Bulk Commodities Supply & Indenting and Power Development. This company is also a pioneer in its sector. Navana Computers and IT is one of the first IT firms of Bangladesh and currently they are the sole distributors of Hewlett Packard in Bangladesh.

With the excellent leading skill of Mr. Shafiul Islam and the experience and business ideals left by the late Mr. Jahurul Islam, Navana Group has become one of the leading and ever growing groups of the business world of Bangladesh. Each and every company under Navana Group has own awards for their respective fields for being the best. Excellent leading skill of the Chairman, great managerial skills and highly trained professionals together has made Navana Group what it is today.
