Country's leading conglomerate Beximco Group faced a 33% year-on-year profit decline in the July-March period of 2022-23 financial year. Bangladesh received two million doses of COVID-19 vaccine from India in February. According to the health authorities, Bangladesh will receive another five million doses in last week of March or in first week of April. That will be the third consignment. The agreement between India’s Serum Institute and Bangladesh’s Beximco Pharma states that in total there will be six-instalment delivery. Country's top pharmaceuticals manufacturer, Beximco Pharma, is acquiring the Covid-19 vaccine on behalf of the Bangladesh government. This vaccine was developed jointly by UK’s Oxford University and AstraZeneca. Serum Institute of India is the manufacture. According to the agreement, 30 million doses will come to Bangladesh. Bangladesh received first consignment of the vaccine on January 25. There were five million doses in the first consignment.
